New Mexico U. fires critic

Although officials at New Mexico Highlands University deny that insubordination was the reason he was fired, Gregg H. Turner, assistant professor of mathematics, said he was fired for a series of essays in which he openly criticized the university’s president. Turner had accused the president, Manny Aragon, of creating a hostile working and learning environment. Turner also criticized the procedures administrators used to deny tenure to him and three other faculty.
