UGA observatory to host open house Friday; Jupiter and Orion to be viewed

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia observatory, atop the physics and astronomy building, will be open for public viewing Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. The observatory will be open for 60 to 90 minutes during the evening.

Star gazers can expect to see Jupiter, Orion and its famous star-forming region (the Orion Nebula) throughout the open house. In addition, the moon will beginto peek over the eastern horizon toward the end of the event.
