OSU receives $165 million donation

Billionaire alumnus and Texas oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens donated $165 million in cash to Oklahoma State University’s athletics department.

The donation, the largest ever given to a college’s athletic program, will be used to fund an indoor football complex, an equestrian center, a baseball stadium and outdoor practice fields.

As for reasons behind the donation, Pickens says in a written statement, “Athletics have proven to be a significant contributor in the academic success of an institution, both from a fundraising and a performance perspective.”
