Performing Arts Center’s priority ticket purchase period begins Aug. 17

Beginning Aug. 17, the Performing Arts Center will offer UGA faculty, staff and students a priority purchase period to order tickets for the upcoming 2009-2010 season. Tickets go on sale Aug. 24 to the general public.

The internationally acclaimed Performing Arts Center presents a season of six series showcasing the finest music, dance and entertainment from around the world. The 2009-2010 season offers an outstanding lineup including Celtic fiddler Natalie MacMaster, bluegrass family Cherryholmes, the Moscow State Radio Symphony Orchestra, Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano, Taikoza Japanese Drums and Dancers, I Musici de Montreal, the Virsky Ukrainian National Dance Company and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

The Performing Arts Center will open its season on Oct. 4 with New Orleans’ own Hot 8 Brass Band. The 2009-2010 season will mark the Performing Arts Center’s 12th year of recording concerts for broadcast on American Public Media’s Performance Today.

Open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Performing Arts Center box office is located at 230 River Road in UGA’s Performing and Visual Arts Complex.
