Ray Kaplan, a professor in infectious diseases in the College of Veterinary Medicine, has received $12,493 from Microbes Biosciences Inc., to study a new potential drug against Brugia malayi, a nematode parasite that is one of the agents that causes lymphatic filariasis or elephantiasis, a condition characterized by swelling of the limbs.
