Registration now open for lecture and workshop on AI and writing

This year, Write@UGA will welcome Annette Vee from the University of Pittsburgh to campus on Feb. 6 for a keynote lecture and workshop on AI and writing.

Vee is the author of Coding Literacy: How Computer Programming is Changing Writing (MIT Press, 2017) and has published on computer programming, blockchain technologies, intellectual property and AI-based text generators in InterfacesLiteracy in Composition StudiesWAC Clearinghouseenculturation, and Computational Culture. Her work is taught in dozens of university courses across the world, and she frequently gives invited talks and workshops on the intersections of computation, writing and pedagogy.

Her keynote lecture, “Androids, Spirits and Chatbots: Historicizing AI Writing,” will take place in Miller Learning Center, room 150, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Later in the afternoon, Vee will lead a workshop on teaching writing in the context of AI in Miller Learning Center, room 372, from 2:45–4 p.m.
