Six UGA students receive top honors

Athens, Ga. – Six students at the University of Georgia received First Honor Graduation distinctions at the Aug. 4 commencement ceremonies.

UGA began recognizing First Honor Graduates in 1978 instead of designating a graduating senior as valedictorian. The university bestows the honor on students who maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout their undergraduate studies.

Grace Annabelle Anglin, Douglasville, daughter of Theron and Kathleen Anglin, religion and psychology;

Lindsay Elizabeth Calhoun, Vidalia, daughter of Michael and Vicki Calhoun, accounting;

Ashley Kathleen Congdon, Richmond Hill, daughter of Michael and Kathleen Congdon, dietetics;

Theresa Dorothy Dowst, Kennesaw, daughter of Kathleen Dowst and Robert Dowst, accounting;

Mark Andrew Gregory, Tucker, son of Harry and Judy Gregory, biology;

Maren Alicia Sheppard, Stone Mountain, daughter of Michael and Alicia Sheppard, criminal justice.
