State Botanical Garden summer brass concerts schedule announced

Athens, Ga. – The State Botanical Garden of Georgia at the University of Georgia will host the first of four free summer brass concerts on June 10 in the Visitor Center and Conservatory. Attendees are encouraged to come early for a picnic in the botanical garden, enjoy a meal at Dondero’s Kitchen, and shop for books, gift items and more in the Garden Shop.

The hour-long concerts will offer a variety of family-friendly tunes, marches, fanfares and medleys performed by talented local musical groups. For more information, call 706/542-1244 or see http://botgarden.uga.edu/.

Classic V Brass Quintet
Sunday, June 10, 3-4 p.m.
This group is only two years old but already has been active playing throughout the community. The concert will include marches, dance music, medleys and Baroque music.

Classic City Band
Sunday, July 1, 3-4 p.m.
This annual concert is filled with popular and patriotic tunes and is often standing room only.

Classic V Brass Quintet
Tuesday, July 24, 7-8 p.m.
Expect tunes such as “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” “Stephen Foster Medley” and “American Patrol March,” with a piece of Baroque music in the mix as well.

Athens Brass Choir
Sunday, Aug. 5, 3-4 p.m.
The Athens Brass Choir will perform Americana, Olympic fanfare and more fun tunes.
