Nonsmoking, postmenopausal women 45-65 with and without a history of breast cancer are being sought for a study examining adiposity, physical activity, physical function, fatigue and pain processing. The principal investigator is Ellen M. Evans, associate professor of kinesiology. Measurements of body composition, physical function, physical activity, diet, muscular strength and pain ratings to brief exposures to hot and cold temperatures applied to the hands will be collected.
The study will require two visits to the Ramsey Student Center; it also will require participants to wear a small activity monitor for seven days. All participants will receive test results and can receive a three-month membership to the kinesiology fitness center.
