‘Terry Tunes’ concert lineup announced

The Terry College of Business kicked off its “Terry Tunes” fall concert series Sept. 15. The free lunchtime concerts, held from noon to 1 p.m. at Herty Field on North Campus, are being organized and promoted by students in the Music Business program. Terry’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations had previously coordinated the schedule, but turned the concert series over to the Music Business Program to use as a learning exercise for its students.

“We’re very grateful for the opportunity to continue the tradition the Terry College has established with the concert series and are excited about taking the program in new directions,” said Bruce Burch, who co-directs the Music Business Program with UGA music professor Steve Dancz. “We hope everybody who has come out in the past to enjoy the fall weather and some great acoustic music will bring a lunch and join us again.”

In keeping with the Music Business Program’s emphasis on introducing students to the ins and outs of the music industry, artists slated to perform include some of Athens’ most promising up-and-coming musical acts. Modern Skirts performed Sept. 15. That concert will be followed by Critical Darlings on Sept. 22, The Packway Handle Band on Sept. 29 and Nate Nelson on Oct. 20.

Some of the scheduled performances also will feature appearances by members of UGA’s cheerleading squads and the Dance Dawgs, the dance team for UGA’s basketball program.

In the event of inclement weather, the scheduled concert will be canceled.
