Tossing salads

Michael Doyle, head of the Center for Food Safety and microbiology professor, was quoted in a Los Angeles Times article concerning whether packaged salads still require rinsing to be safe from contamination. Doyle said he skips bagged greens altogether.

“We eat a lot of vegetables,” Doyle said. “We eat a lot of lettuce. We buy heads and peel off the outer layers.”
