Two poets give reading

Poets Peter Gizzi and Joshua Beckman will read from their new books of poetry on Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. in 265 Park Hall.

Gizzi is the author of three books of poetry, most recently Some Values of Landscape and Weather. He edited the influential journal O-blek from 1987 to 1993, and the Exact Change Yearbook and The House That Jack Built: The Collected Lectures of Jack Spicer. His poems have appeared in several magazines and anthologies. He received the prestigious Lavan Younger Poet Award in 1994 from the Academy of American Poets. He is an associate professor of English at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Beckman is the author of three books of poetry, most recently Your Time Has Come. His first book, Things Are Happening, won the APR/Honickman Prize, and his second book, Something I Expected to Be Different, appeared in 2001. He is co-author with Matthew Rohrer of Nice Hat. Thanks. and the co-translator of Tomaz Salamun’s Poker. His poems have appeared in Harper’s, Grand Street and other magazines.
