UC-Berkeley law school may privatize

The dean of the University of California at Berkeley’s law school would like to partly privatize the school.

Under the proposal, the law school would continue to maintain a commitment to public service and ties to Berkeley’s academic departments. Dean Christopher Edley would also like to see it maintain the same level-30 percent-of public support it currently receives, with state money going mainly toward faculty salaries. But he’d like to supplement those funds with a significant increase in private contributions.
