Athens, Ga. – Thirty-two local University of Georgia incoming freshmen have been awarded Harris Scholarships for the 2007-2008 academic year.
The highly competitive merit award provides $2,000 per year to graduates who attended a public or private high school in the Athens-Clarke County community. The recipients must have outstanding academic records and demonstrate exceptional potential in leadership and community service activities.
Recipients can renew the scholarship for an additional three years of undergraduate study if they meet certain academic requirements.
