UGA approved as a Registered Education Provider by Project Management Institute

Athens, Ga. – The Project Management Institute, the world’s largest project management member association, has named the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education as a Registered Education Provider.

PMI R.E.P.s are organizations that have been approved by PMI to help project managers achieve and maintain the Project Management Professional, or PMP®, Program Management Professional or PgMP®, and other PMI professional credentials. These organizations have met PMI’s rigorous quality criteria for course content, instructor qualification and instructional design.

Project managers are increasingly turning to PMI R.E.P.s for certification training and maintenance, especially since median salaries for the profession now exceed $100,000. UGA’s Center for Continuing Education offers a range of professional development programs for project managers.

Two programs that have been reviewed and accepted by PMI are:

Project Management: Comprehensive Training with PMP® Exam Prep provides formal project management instruction for individuals seeking to expand their careers and prepare for the PMP® Certification Exam. The 36-hour course will be taught in UGA’s Gwinnett campus in Lawrenceville in September.

Project Management Fundamentals for Healthcare is an 18-hour, online course that uses a work-related project to teach individuals the basics of project management in a healthcare environment. This course is one of eight modules in UGA’s Healthcare Management Certificate Program, a 90-hour, online training that prepares individuals in the healthcare field to become more effective managers and supervisors.

“UGA is honored to be one of only two public universities in Georgia to achieve PMI certification,” said Denise Logan, professional a personal development department head at UGA’s Center for Continuing Education. “Our courses help people develop some of the most in-demand skills in the business world.”

UGA’s Center for Continuing Education joins more than 1,400 R.E.P.s in over 70 countries. These organizations include commercial training providers, academic institutions, and corporate training departments within corporations and government agencies.
