Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia Franklin College of Arts and Sciences department of dance will present its Spring Dance Concert 2013 April 4-6 at 8 p.m. and April 7 at 2:30 p.m. in the New Dance Theatre located in the Dance Building.

The Spring Dance Concert 2013 brings together faculty, guest choreographers and UGA undergraduate students, many of whom are completing their degrees—either majors or minors—in dance. Choreographers and student dancers have been rehearsing most of the pieces since the early fall of 2012.

The works have been fully realized for the stage and integrated into an evening-long concert with the assistance of the department of dance’s technical director Christopher Fleming on theatrical concerns, lighting and set design.

The concert will premiere staged pieces by department of dance faculty Joan Buttram—her work will include the UGA Ballet Ensemble—Rebecca Gose Enghauser, Daryl Foster, Alix Miller, Janet Robertson and Marcus Bugler, the Jane and Harry Willson Center for Humanities and Arts visiting artist.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students, seniors and children age 6 to 12. Advance tickets can be purchased in person at the Performing Arts Center box office or the Tate Student Center cashier’s window, by calling 706/542-4400 or online at www.pac.uga.edu. Tickets will be available at the door beginning one hour before each performance. Cash, credit cards and checks will be accepted.

The Dance Building is located off Sanford Drive across from the South Campus parking deck. For more information on the UGA department of dance, see www.dance.uga.edu.
