UGA hosting an array of holiday activities

Enjoy a variety of events this winter in Athens

This holiday season, the University of Georgia will be offering many events the whole family can enjoy. Prepare for the most wonderful time of the year by participating in a variety of activities, from wreath-making workshops to festive concerts.

The following events are open to all members of the community:

State Botanical Garden of Georgia Winter WonderLights

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia has been transformed into a magical wonderland of lights. Enjoy the garden’s inaugural Winter WonderLights display from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Dec. 1-5, Dec. 8-12, Dec. 15-23, Dec. 26-30 and Jan. 2-9. The event will offer 11 extraordinary displays along a half-mile path through the garden.
Cost: $15.00 for adults; free for children under 3

2021 Holiday Music Festival

Throughout December, Hodgson Concert Hall will be hosting performances by the Hugh Hodgson School of Music, Athens Choral Society, Georgia’s Children’s Chorus, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, The King’s Singers, and Ricky Skaggs. No matter your music preference, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Cost: Tickets vary in price.

UGArden Herbs Holiday Market

Stop by the UGArden on Dec. 4 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to browse a selection of medicinal teas, seasoning blends, salves and more for purchase. All items are created with herbs grown at the UGArden.
Cost: Free

Holiday Décor Workshop at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia

Bring home a live wreath, table centerpiece or door décor after this holiday workshop. Materials will be collected fresh from the gardens before class to ensure they will last through the holiday season. This event will be held on Dec. 6 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Cost: $30.00

Family Day: Inside Look II

Celebrate the winter holidays with the Georgia Museum of Art. Bring the family to view previously unseen works of American and Russian art and create your own Fabergé-inspired art at home using the free Family Day To-Go art kit. Attend the program on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 10 a.m. to noon, or pick up kits from the museum Thursday to Sunday the week of the event.
Cost: Free

Toddler Tuesday: Art Gifts

Designed for families with children ages 18 months to 3 years old, enjoy art and story time together in the Georgia Museum of Art, followed by an art activity just for the little ones. Email gmoa-tours@uga.edu to reserve a spot for this free event happening Dec. 14 from 10 to 11 a.m.
Cost: Free

Yoga in the Galleries

Need a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season? Participate in a free yoga class surrounded by works of art in the Georgia Museum of Art on Thursday, Dec. 16, from 6 to 7 p.m. This program is open to all levels of experience and is available in-person and via Zoom.
