UGA Observatory sets open houses for fall semester

Athens, Ga. – Fall semester open houses for the UGA Observatory atop the Physics and Astronomy Building have been announced.

The observatory will be open for public viewing on Friday, Sept. 10, at 9 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 1, at 8:30 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. The observatory usually stays open on those evenings for 60 to 90 minutes.

In case of clouds for the Sept. 10 Open House, Loris Magnani, professor of astronomy, will give a talk entitled “The Milky Way: Our Galactic Home.”
