UGA Panhellenic Council receives national achievement recognition

The National Panhellenic Conference has recognized the UGA Panhellenic Council with a College Panhellenic Achievement Award for the 2012-2013 academic year.

The UGA Panhellenic Council promotes cooperation and cohesiveness within the Greek community, oversees formal recruitment for its member groups and sponsors community service opportunities, social events and educational programs. There are currently 17 Panhellenic chapters recognized at UGA.

The UGA council was one of 33 universities recognized-one of 19 universities that received the achievement award. The award acknowledges the council’s efforts to meet core competencies and excel at five of seven core functions: recruitment, structure, communication with the NPC area adviser, judicial procedures, community impact and relations, programming and academics.

“Our Panhellenic women work extremely hard to exemplify the best that the Greek experience has to offer,” said Claudia Shamp, director of UGA’s Greek Life Office. “We are thrilled that the national conference has recognized them with this well-deserved honor.”
