Athens, Ga. – A group of University of Georgia incoming freshmen have been awarded the Presidential Leadership Scholarship for the 2011-2012 academic year.
The award, funded by UGA’s Athletic Association, is provided to students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership potential as well as strong academic accomplishments. The award was first offered to incoming freshmen last fall.
The award provides $3,000 per year in addition to the HOPE Scholarship to Georgia high school graduates. Out-of-state recipients can use a Regents Waiver that covers the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition.
The scholarship can be renewed for an additional three years of undergraduate study if the recipients maintain certain academic standards.
