Unemployed veterans gain additional year of benefits from Congress

Congress has passed a bill that will provide an additional year of benefits from the GI Bill to older veterans, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

In addition, the bill, which was the first portion of President Barack Obama’s jobs package to pass through the legislature, will provide up to $9,600 of tax breaks for companies that hire unemployed veterans. The benefits apply to veterans 35 to 60 years old who enroll in programs at community and technical colleges.
