University Health Service to host Healthy Dawg Festival

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia annual Healthy Dawg Festival will be held April 18 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on the Tate Student Center Plaza. Sponsored by the University Health Center and its student groups, the Healthy Dawg Festival will offer games, activities, prizes, music, free food and drinks.

This year, the festival will feature a circus theme using the slogan “A Healthy Balancing Act.” The event will offer a variety of carnival games and activities that focus on emotional, intellectual, physical, environmental and spiritual health. Students attending the festival will be given the opportunity to increase their awareness of health issues that affect them now and in the future.

In addition to the student groups, UHC professional staff will be on hand at the Healthy Dawg Festival. The physical therapy department will offer free massages; the pharmacy will distribute a variety of sunscreen products to sample; and staff from the dental, vision and medical clinics will answer questions and concerns.

More than 100 prizes donated by local merchants will be given away during the event. The prizes will range from a free massage to free dental cleaning and gift certificates for food, activities, clothing and gifts. All students participating in activities are eligible to win one of the prizes.
