Wake Forest University baseball coach donates kidney to player

Wake Forest University baseball coach Tom Walter recently donated a kidney to one of his freshman outfielders to save his life, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

The student, Kevin Jordan, suffers from an autoimmune disorder that leads to kidney failure, which put him on renal dialysis before the operation. When Jordan’s family members turned out not to be good matches for a transplant, Jordan found an unexpected match in the 42-year-old coach. Both Jordan and Walter are expected to make full recoveries and continue their tenures at Wake Forest.
