Weapons policy updated

The university’s policy on weapons has been revised to reflect changes in the state law. New to the policy is a ban on nontraditional firearms, including BB guns, paint ball guns and potato cannons. It also prohibits bacteriological weapons like poison gas, explosives and hoax devices intended to resemble harmful devices like package bombs or toxic chemicals.

The policy applies to employees, students and visitors in residence halls, on university property and at UGA-sponsored events. Violation can result in termination, dismissal and criminal prosecution.

More information about the policy is available online, (police.uga.edu/weapons.html).
