UGA Performing Arts Center presents Second City Company

Athens, Ga. – The Second City Company returns to the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center for two performances on March 2 and 3 at 8 p.m. Following a successful appearance at UGA in 2010, the company brings its trademark improv back to Ramsey Concert Hall with a new show titled Laugh Out Loud.

Based in Chicago, the Second City is America’s famed comedy troupe, hailed by The New York Times as “…legendary.” The company has launched the careers of such stars as Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray and many others.

With a hilarious combination of sketches, songs and improvisation, the Second City has been entertaining audiences around the world for more than 50 years. “Whether it’s ripped from the morning headlines or a classic gem from their legendary archives, the Second City always provides ‘laugh out loud’ entertainment,” said Bobby Tyler, marketing director of UGA’s Performing Arts Center.

The musical director for Second City is Tilliski Ramey, a native of Athens. Ramey graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago with a B.F.A. in 2005 and decided to put his degree in video production and illustration to good use by playing piano for an improv theater company.

Tickets for the Second City are $39, with special discounts for UGA students. Tickets can be purchased online at pac.uga.edu or by calling the Performing Arts Center box office at 706/542-4400 or toll free at 888/289-8497.

The event’s performance underwriters are members of the Trashy Book Club of Athens.
